Level 1: Tribal Basics
Learn to dance by drilling the basics in fun fast and slow combinations. We'll get you dancing in your first class! Six-week cycle includes posture and body awareness, zills, and group formations.

Level 2: Tribal Combinations
A student should complete a minimum of two or three sessions of Level 1 before signing up for Level 2. Please check with Jennifer before registering. In Level 2, we'll refine technique by drilling the basic steps and adding variations to make creative combinations. Level 2 is a 12-week course; students register for 6 weeks at a time. The March/April 2012 session is the second half of a 12-week session.

Level 3: Advanced Movements
Level 3 is open by invitation only. Level 3 is a 12-week course; students register for 6 weeks at a time. We'll refine technique and begin performance preparation through additional ATS vocabulary, zill patterns, formations and musicality. Level 3 students are required to also attend Level 2 classes for their first year in Level 3.

If you are interested in offering ATS® bellydance classes or workshops in your studio or community center, please contact Jennifer with the details.
Class Format
Each class includes drilling of new moves, practicing combinations of moves and improvisational dancing. Playing finger cymbals (zills) is also included starting the 3rd class of each session. (Zills are available in class to rent or purchase.)
Level One includes the following movements:
- Shimmy
- Arabic Step
- Basic Egyptian
- Pivot Bump and Choo Choo
- Floreo
- Taxeem
- Arm Undulations
- Body Wave
- Torso Twist
- Circle Step
Posture, zilling, dance formations, leading and following, and cues are also included in Level One.
What to wear? Come to class in something comfortable that you can move around in, such as yoga pants and a tank top. Bring a water bottle, too - we will work up a sweat! Once you've been dancing for awhile, you might like to wear a full skirt and choli. Check the Resources section (on the right) for costuming links.
